JV Alert Seminar Wrap Up

Last weekend I was lucky enough to attend Ken Macarthur’s JV Alert. It was a great time and I am definitely glad I made the trip to Philadelphia, PA. One of the things that makes this event fun and unique is that it’s a smaller event and you get to spend more time with each attendee individually and really get to know them.

I meet some great folks there and even had a chance to sneak off for a couple hours to get a little taste of “Philly” But more on that in a bit. Here’s just a short list of the great folks I got to spend time with:

Ken McArthur
Mike Filsaime
Jeff Dedrick
Willie Crawford
Brett Ingram
David Lovelace
Rachel Rofe
Simon Leung
Brian Edmondson
Chris Vendilli
Andrew Bourland
Donna Fox
Ross Goldberg
Doug Champigny
Jay White
Gina Gaudio Graves
Erik Stafford
Vin Montello
Mike Steup
Dustin Struckman
Keith Wellman
Hollis Carter
Robert Plank
Ron Capps
Kathleen Donaghy
Dave Mason
Odinn Sorenson
Stacy Makdad
David Gonzalez
Roosevelt Simmons
Kevin Nations
Alan Bechtold
Mike Morgan
Stuart Tan
Steve Iser
Frank Sousa
Warren Whitlock
Jason DeVelvis
Jeff Steffen

As you can see there’s was a lot of amazing people there. Talk about some great networking opportunities. Imagine having gone to this event and met with these and other like minded business people at this event? That’s why I absolutely love going to seminars. They really are a must if you are serious about an Internet marketing business.

Another highlight of the event was the great party Jeff Dedrick put on in his private suite on Friday and Saturday night. There was some amazing vip guests there and Jeff Provided all the food and drink anybody could ever want. So great job Jeff, I know I appreciate the invite. I think everybody there had a truly great time.

As for the speakers, there were some good ones there but my favorite speaker far and away was Yanik Silver. This guy is so smooth and he speaks in a way that’s easy to understand and very enjoyable to listen to. He’s been so amazingly successful in the Internet marketing space with his own products and especially his own well know seminar called the “Underground Seminar.” Just an overall impressive marketer.

Usually when I go to seminars I try to step out on the town for at least a couple hours to see the city im in. It’s no fun to be stuck in a hotel conference room for hours on end. In Philidelphia I got to eat an Authentic Philly Cheese Steak at a place called Pat’s King of Steaks. It was quite yummy.

I also got to see the famous Rocky Statue from the famous series of movies. The statue sits at the bottom steps of the Philadelphia Museum of Art which I didnt get to see, but hopefully next time i’m in town i’ll get to venture inside.

Again, if you have the means and you want to take your Internet marketing business to the next level, go to a seminar. Every single one I have been to has been a valuable, fun, and profitable experience.

An Awesome Deal From Mike Filsaime (Did I Mention It’s FREE?)

Here is the deal…

Back in February of 2007, Mike Filsaime held a secret Private Workshop at an undisclosed location.

Over 100 people paid $5000 for the Workshop.

He then took those DVD’s (Which now sell for $1297) and sold it out in record fashion in under 7 days to 2500 people. Since then… over 3000 people have paid for that information.

The success stories that followed have changed the face of Internet Marketing.

(Filsaime, along with his 37 Staff Members, will do $10,000,000 this year in sales and is credited with showing other marketers how to grow a 7 figure Business.)

Here’s the part i’m excited about!

Recently, Mike hired a “TOP GUN” Internet Marketing Expert and Copywriter (That also attended the event.)

Mike Paid this “TOP GUN” $25,000 to watch all 16 DVD’s of “The 7 Figure Code” and condense it into a Masterpiece…

THE RESULT…

Learn From Your Errors And Move On

I just turned 31 years of age, so considering im now getting into my 30’s, health and fitness is a big part of my life. I try to eat right and I play pick-up basketball Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday at 7 a.m. and then Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at noon.

There’s a lesson I have learned from basketball that I really try and apply to my life and business. If I make a mistake forget about it and move on. If I miss an easy layup, if I make a bad pass, if my team loses 5 games in a row… I try and learn from it and MOVE ON!

For me it’s natural to dwell on the negative… there’s been times when i’m playing a game and i’m still angry and thinking about a bad play I made in a previous game. This is without a doubt is NOT ideal.

It was killing my internal game. So much of sports is mental too. Most great players in any sport have a good head. So I have made a huge effort to try and learn from my mistakes, and just simply forget about em.

Everybody in this world is going to take their knocks with sports, family, work, friends, whatever. Learn from the expereience and MOVE ON!!!!

That’s all…

I Wouldn’t Miss This For The World

I just capped off a great memorial day weekend and I have to say it’s so fun to be around family and friends. I have 2 brothers, both married, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, a grandmother, and of course Mom and Dad I all saw this weekend.

With life being so short, I can’t understand how people move off to other parts of the country or even world leaving their family and friends behind. I wouldent miss my 3 month old nephew growing up for the world. Or my grandmother at 86 years old still fiesty as ever, or spending time with my 2 brothers playing catch or whatever it is.

Maybe i’m a homebody? A family man? Or a Moma’s boy? Maybe you can help me shed light on this. I think family is one of the most important things we have in this world. How can people spend months or even years of their lives being away from them?

I don’t understand. If you can help me understand feel free to leave a comment here. I’d love to get your feedback. Thanks for reading.

Who The Heck Is Jason James?

I had a subscriber email me this week asking, “who the heck are you?” after I had sent out an email. I use double opt-in for my mailing list, which means to get on my list you have to #1 sign-up then #2 go check your email and click on a link to confirm you want to receive information from me.

That’s why I was a bit suprised when this subscriber emailed me wondering who I am. BUT, the more I think of it, it seems a bit egotistical to actually think everybody on my list knows who I am and where I came from.

Especially these days where we are all getting pummeled with email from marketers, spammers, companies we do business with, etc. etc. So I had this idea…

I did an interview last year with Simon Hodgkinson and Jeremy Gislason that kinda goes from square one from how I started with online business and to where I have gone (up to that point in 2007 at least). It’s being sold on sites like this one

http://www.6figureproductlaunch.com for $27.00 but i’m giving it to you today for free just so you know who I am, but even more than that you’ll get some great advice on this Interview as theres big lessons to be learned all 3 of us on the call.

A Neat Little Email Trick

First off, I have to give kudos to my buddy Ben Schaffer for this neat little trick. Basically you can make Microsoft Outlook play a sound everytime you receive mail!

I use it in such a way that it motivates me everytime mail comes in. I’m not sure how this works with other operating systems like Apple or other email programs, but i’m sure it can be accomplished. Just for the record, I’m using Windows XP and Outlook 2003.

Here’s a quick video on how to do it. Enjoy!

Moving Update!

Well I sold my condo in Virginia Beach on Thursday and bought my new home in Boston on Monday. Thankfully everything went pretty smooth including the 600 mile drive in the fully packed 17 foot U-Haul tugging my car, and having my dogs in the front seat. Maybe I’ll make an entirely different post on the actual moving process…. it was quite an adventure for sure.

I’m a single guy and still everyday I wake up in awe. I still can’t believe this big beautiful home is mine. Once my basement gets finished (in progress) the house built in 2003 will have just under 5,000 square feet, be in total privacy in the woods on 1.5 acres, fancy kitchen with granite countertops and new appliances, steam shower and Jacuzzi in the master bath, sun room, vaulted ceilings, crown molding, oversized 2 car garage, the list goes on and on and on.

To think I was in massive debt only 4 or so years ago and to now look at where I am I am just so thankful. I am very blessed with good health, great family, wonderful dogs, all the material things ill ever want, great looks (wink wink!), and this list also goes on and on.

I suppose there’s always struggles with life, and I know there will be in the future too but the bad times made the good times so much sweeter that’s for sure. I’ve had my share of bad days, always keeping in mind everything is going to be alright if I make good decisions in business and in life.

So if you are struggling, remember there’s always light at the end of the tunnel! Like the old saying goes one day at a time. I’m going to get back to unpacking, but I will definitely update the blog more now that I’m getting more settled. Carpe Diem!

Oh ya, here’s a few pics…

Real Estate and Moving Crunch Time

Ok so here I am Saturday afternoon packing everything of mine for my move this week. My condo here in Virginia is set to close this Thursday and then I close on my new house in Massachusetts that following Monday.

For the house im selling, the requested repairs have been completed, the pest inspection has been done, home inspection, appraisal, has all been done. Hopefully my buyer has his affairs in order and the closing will go off without a hitch.

In the mean time, it’s suprising how much stuff I have. I’m not a pack rat my any means but it amazing how much stuff I have when I begin to start to put it all into boxes.

I’m actually renting a 17 foot “Uhaul” truck with my car in tow behind the truck. This should be an intering adventure going 600 miles up the coast from Virginia to Massachusetts. My stuff, my car, and my 2 little puppies in the front seat!

As for this new house im buying its actually my first SFR (single family home.) Meaning… no loud neighbors, shared parking, cramped patio, and the list really goes on. Living in a condo has been a great experience for me as a first time home buyer but im ready to move on.

I’m ready for multiple rooms, a kitchen and bathroom I can customize, a huge yard for me and the dogs, a big driveway where I can put in a basketball hoop, a garage, room to grow, and so much more.

Based on my past experience… the mortgage company is doing all the nitty gritty work this week. Verifying my employment, tax returns, housing history, savings, etc. This time around i’m ready for whatever “additional paperwork” they need. Plus, based on the forclosure crisis here in the U.S. the banks are even more stringent on their lending requirments. I certainly don’t blame them thats for sure.

Well im back to packing… If im a little slow responding to your emails and posts I apologize. i’ll do my best to stay online for as long as I can before and after the move. I’ll be posting pictures of my new place once the deal is finalized! Have a great weekend!

Here’s What Really Motivates Me

About 3 or 4 times a week around 5:30 p.m. my friends and I gather for a rather intense basketball game. It’s something I really look forward to on the days we play. For many reasons really: its fun, it burns calories (I’m a chocolate addict so that really helps!), and it builds the bond with my friends just to name a few. I have become a darn good basketball player I think, always scoring a majority of the points and making smart efficient passes. I have my bad games, but overall I usually get picked first or second to be on peoples teams. But it didn’t always use to be like this…

Today I just wanted to tell you a little story that may help you in your life and in your business. For a long time I was an average to a below average basketball player, always looking to pass rather than shoot. I knew I had the talent to score, and I considered myself a very good shooter but I just didn’t have the confidence and really the motivation to be a “scorer” rather than a passer.

So lets go back about 2 years. I was playing basketball in a YMCA league game and I was having a really bad game. I had missed all of my shots (most of them easy lay-ups’) and was making some really dreadful passing decisions. Overall, I was having a terrible game. But somehow my team managed to stay within 4 or 5 points with just a few minutes left in the game.

It was becoming crunch time in the game, the spot in the game where every shot had to be a good one and every pass had to be precise. So lets fast forward to about 1 minute left in the game with my team down 2 points. The other team had just missed a shot so I started racing down the court. I’m a pretty fast guy so I got down there before anyone else, and wouldn’t you know it here comes a pass right to me. I had a perfect open lay up that would have tied the game.

You guessed it, I missed an easy lay up. A lay up! The easiest shot in basketball! Immediately after I missed that shot I heard the teammate who had passed me the ball mutter to himself… “Why do I keep passing to you!” As if he had never missed a shot before, as if he was the greatest basketball player to ever play the game, as if I wasn’t worthy of receiving passes from him.

That was it for me. A real turning point.

My team went on to lose the game and finish the season in last place. But those words really got me going. I mean, I was angry. Really angry. So what did I do? I got sick and tired of being average. I dedicated myself to being a better player. I went about a 2 month stretch where I would play basketball 3 times a day 3 or 4 days a week. For example, on a Monday I would play at 6 a.m. with the before work crowd, then at 12 noon I would play with the lunch time crowd, and then at 7:30 p.m. I would play with the high school kids. I didn’t care how old they were, I was just trying to play and get better. I had played so much basketball that I had dropped 14 pounds and got into great shape, not to mention I trashed that mentality of being a passer first and not a shooter and the best part was I had really improved my game.

To make a long story short, my basketball game improved dramatically, I dedicated myself to being aggressive, and I went on to the next season of YMCA league play to become the leagues top scorer, my team won the championship out of 14 teams, and I was the league MVP.

I still to this day think of the comment my teammate made and it still makes me angry and motivates me. I mean, I don’t blame the guy for saying it… I was terrible that game. In fact I should really thank him for helping me become such an improved player.

The moral of the story is, think of something that has happened in your life, something that made you mad, didn’t work out in your favor, anything really, and turn it into a positive. Use it as a motivational tool. Maybe your family or friends don’t/didnt support you in your hopes and dreams. I have experienced that and it really hurts, but boy oh boy does that motivate me to prove everyone wrong. All the naysayers who still think I should just go to college and get a “regular job.” Anyway, I digress… that one comment to this very day motivates me to become better, not just at sports, but in anything I do.

You can apply this technique to your business, your golf game, dancing lessons, piano, work, whatever you are struggling with. In the end the more motivated you are to succeed, the better you will do. Good luck.

What Do you Do For A Living?

What Do You Do For A Living? I have been asked that question so many times and have probabaly never given the same answer. As an Internet marketer this is a really tough question to answer.

What brings this question up is, im going through the loan approval process right now for a new house and the bank underwriter called me and wanted to know what I did for a living and how I was going to find work after moving 500+ miles.

I was worried that that this guy (who is pretty much responsible for approving me for this loan) would think I was crazy if I told him I: Sold information on the internet, did some affiliate marketing, ran Warrior Special Offers, made money with email marketing, wrote and sold ebooks, launched products, ran my own affiliate program, etc.

I think from now on I am going to tell people. “I am a reseller of information and software on the Internet. I make money marketing other companies products.”

Which is true really, affiliate marketing is a large part of my business. Sad part of the matter is that there is still a stigma associated with an Internet business. Many are quick to assume I am running some kind of scam, Im selling x-rated material, or I’m doing something unethical even after I explain what I do.

What do you think? If you click on comments above you can leave your feedback. I’d love to hear what you thoughts are!

Speaking of email and affiliate marketing, on April 10th, 2008 I am launching version 2 of my Greedy Giveaway. I love giveaways, they are an amazing way to build your list and make money at the same time. A deadly combination!
