Real Estate and Moving Crunch Time

Ok so here I am Saturday afternoon packing everything of mine for my move this week. My condo here in Virginia is set to close this Thursday and then I close on my new house in Massachusetts that following Monday.
For the house im selling, the requested repairs have been completed, the pest inspection has been done, home inspection, appraisal, has all been done. Hopefully my buyer has his affairs in order and the closing will go off without a hitch.
In the mean time, it’s suprising how much stuff I have. I’m not a pack rat my any means but it amazing how much stuff I have when I begin to start to put it all into boxes.
I’m actually renting a 17 foot “Uhaul” truck with my car in tow behind the truck. This should be an intering adventure going 600 miles up the coast from Virginia to Massachusetts. My stuff, my car, and my 2 little puppies in the front seat!
As for this new house im buying its actually my first SFR (single family home.) Meaning… no loud neighbors, shared parking, cramped patio, and the list really goes on. Living in a condo has been a great experience for me as a first time home buyer but im ready to move on.
I’m ready for multiple rooms, a kitchen and bathroom I can customize, a huge yard for me and the dogs, a big driveway where I can put in a basketball hoop, a garage, room to grow, and so much more.
Based on my past experience… the mortgage company is doing all the nitty gritty work this week. Verifying my employment, tax returns, housing history, savings, etc. This time around i’m ready for whatever “additional paperwork” they need. Plus, based on the forclosure crisis here in the U.S. the banks are even more stringent on their lending requirments. I certainly don’t blame them thats for sure.
Well im back to packing… If im a little slow responding to your emails and posts I apologize. i’ll do my best to stay online for as long as I can before and after the move. I’ll be posting pictures of my new place once the deal is finalized! Have a great weekend!

Hi Jason,
I wish you a whole lot of good luck with your move.
I just had a similar moving experience just a few months ago too.
You’re sooo right about accumulating stuff.
Just keep in mind the end result. A beautiful home, new neighborhood, new friends, closer to your family, etc.
Drive safe Jason, and take care of those cute puppies. :-))
