A Neat Little Email Trick

First off, I have to give kudos to my buddy Ben Schaffer for this neat little trick. Basically you can make Microsoft Outlook play a sound everytime you receive mail!

I use it in such a way that it motivates me everytime mail comes in. I’m not sure how this works with other operating systems like Apple or other email programs, but i’m sure it can be accomplished. Just for the record, I’m using Windows XP and Outlook 2003.

Here’s a quick video on how to do it. Enjoy!

Its a good trick that whenever we get a email it plays a sound to notify that we received a email, Thanks for providing the information.

    Hi James,

I found it so funny that you “found” a trick to have outlook ring a sound when you get mail. The truth of the matter is, Microsoft and the PCs cheated you out of that pleasure for 24 years now…

That’s right. On my Mac, Mail and Eudora ring every time an email comes in and it’s ALWAYS been like that!

But maybe you are too young to remember: Windows is actually a COPY of the Macintosh interface :-) But I must say I was flabberghasted to find out Outlook didn’t let you know with a sound when you had mail! (some things we take for granted, I guess).

    Ok, have a good day!

    Marie-Andree
