A lot of people move for just that reason- to start over. I was expecting to do that this year, if my condo ever sells. Family is overrated- just watch Dr Phil if you don't believe me. They have these things now called planes that let you travel all the way across the country in a few hours in case you want to go visit someone. :) Well, when you move somewhere new, why can’t you just make new friends? A lot of people move for just that reason- to start over. I was expecting to do that this year, if my condo ever sells.

Their number one regret is the failure to have spent more time growing relationships - especially with family. I live a mile from my parents, and my family lives in the same state as my wife's parents. I would not change things for the world. I am not a mama's boy; I just like being close (cheap babysitting). There is nothing biblical about staying near home and family. Some do quite well and form new families in new surroundings. I guess it is all in how we are raised. I also do not want any regrets. Of course, there is always that family member that is just impossible to get along with. For me, I like my kids having access to family, but I could also move knowing the purpose God has placed in my life. You are right though. There is nothing like getting together with family. I'm just a phone call away, but it's not the same as being there. I made the choice to move away because they were too much in my business. When I moved it was a wise choice. Now that I'm older I realize that it was a good one. I see my family at least once a year and it's quality time, not quantity. I am much more appreciated than when I was home. Don't get me wrong, I always will want to go home. It will always be my choice.Love can reach a far distance. I live 420 miles away from my family.
