Peaks and Valleys
By Jason in Advice, Motivational, Personal Life | 5 comments
I like to read inspirational and motivational stories and a common theme I see in many of the books I read is that life for everybody in this world is going to be comprised of “peaks and valleys.”
There going to be times in your life when things are great. Your healthy, the family is great, money is there, the weather is wonderful, you’re sleeping well, job is good, etc. etc.
Any then there’s also going to be times in your life where you think things just can’t be any worse. I happen to be in one of those “valley’s” at the moment.
In the past month I have had a cold that just wont go away, I broke my foot playing basketball, my Dad at 64 years old gets diagnosed with colon cancer a disease from which his father my grandfather died from, my Mom gets laid off from her job amid mounting medical bills, my dog “Charlie” dislocates his leg, the finished basement on my house is way overdue and way over budget, and the list goes on to other things as well.
That list was in no specific order, but as you can see the phrase “when it rains it pours” might be appropriate here. I really don’t know what else could go wrong.
All I can do is to think positive and hope and pray things will get better. I know there’s light at the end of the tunnel.
I’m confident we caught my Dad’s cancer early and we can remove the tumor, im confident my mom will seek employment, im confident my cold will go away and my broken foot will heal properly, I’m confident my Dog’s leg will be ok in time after treatment, and I’m confident my basement will be finished soon and it will have been worth it and still an enjoyable place to hang out and a great investment for when I sell my house someday.
I’m going to stay positive. If you’re reading this, know that everybody faces challenges in life, life is not easy. Just know things will be better and do your best to keep a smile on your face and be there for your friends and family.
Things always get better. In fact they have to. Thanks’ for reading.

Jason,
Sorry to hear about the recent challenges in your life.
If you haven’t already, I highly recommend checking out The Last Lecture (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ji5_MqicxSo)…
or watch it again.

I am sorry to hear about all the things happening around you. Sometimes it can be very difficult to handle but for some reason we all persevere and carry on because we know we have to be stong.
Take care for now.

Hi Jason,
I hope your problems will all work out for the better. Like you said: It always gets better. Yes, it does, if you seek out the positive to learn from the problem and have a positive attitute, like you have.
Many years ago, I worked in a supermarked, and everyday this lady in her fifties came in. She was always smiling and laughing a lot, and we used to talk a while each day.
One day I said to her: You are always so glad and happy. You must have had a good life.
But she answered me: My husband and my two girls died many years ago.
And yet, she overcame, and she made the days happier for a lot of people with her positive and happy attitute. I still admire that woman, now, more than twenty five years later.
Best wishes,
Britt

Just wanted to send some good vibes your way.
You’re right, it’ll get better. To see the light, we need to go through the darkness.
Let me know if you ever need to vent though =)
